Fistful of Dollars. In memory of Jonny Dollar
This Sunday Why Why Peaches band member Craigie Dodds will be running a marathon in honour of Jonny Dollar. Jonny was part of the band and wrote and recorded with us in the first year of its incarnation. He passed away in May 2009 from cancer and his presence is sorely missed. He was best known for his work on Massive Attack’s Blue Lines and personally i feel honoured to have worked with such an incredible musician.

We recorded this live performance in the studio last week and wanted to share it with you. It’s the first track we ever wrote as Why Why Peaches. The song started out as a looped sample from a cajon box drum, that Craigie Dodds was hitting. Strange how something can come from what you first think is nothing.

Thanks to everyone for their great cover ideas. We decided on Emma Finns suggestion of Lovesong by The Cure & recorded it yesterday. Free entry for Emma & guest to our next London Show at the Lexington, 30th March. We will be doing this again in April so get your ideas flowing, and don’t worry if you live somewhere else in the world we will find another way of thanking you for your thoughts.
